Hotel London, The World Islands, Dubai

Hotel London is a destination hotel located on one of Dubai’s World Islands, designed to offer guests a unique cultural and spatial experience rooted in the spirit of London. The project reinterprets British architectural and social identity within the context of a contemporary island resort.

The concept is structured around five distinct guestroom levels, each drawing inspiration from a different area of London including Notting Hill, Shoreditch, Mayfair, Westminster, and Kensington. These references shape the design language across the hotel’s interiors and public spaces, from colour palettes and materiality to spatial atmosphere. While each floor offers a distinct mood, the overall design remains cohesive, allowing guests to move seamlessly through the narrative.

The ground floor is conceived as an arrival moment that balances urban identity with island hospitality. Visitors enter through a landscaped forecourt before stepping into a lobby that hints at London’s classical symmetry, reinterpreted in light tones and natural textures. Adjacent to the main lobby, guests can explore a boutique retail arcade and two food and beverage venues: a contemporary take on the traditional English pub, and an all-day dining space influenced by the ritual of afternoon tea.

The rooftop is imagined as the social heart of the hotel. Here, a James Bond inspired restaurant, bar, and lounge offer panoramic views over the sea, accompanied by a series of pools and terraces. The design of this space references both 1960s futurism and cinematic London glamour, creating an environment that is relaxed by day and atmospheric at night.

Hotel London is accessible exclusively by boat, offering a sense of retreat and separation from the mainland. The architecture and interior design work together to provide guests with a layered experience – familiar yet unexpected, nostalgic yet forward-looking. It is not a literal translation of London, but a curated reinterpretation that invites exploration.
